Hello,

a bit about me:

After graduating from Elon University in 2010, I began my four-year career as a committed reporter covering city government, breaking news, crime, business, lifestyle, profiles, and arts and entertainment for the Times-News in Burlington, N.C.  -  a local daily newspaper with circulations of up to 25,000, its print edition and website reaching 71 percent of greater Alamance County, N.C.

From March to December 2014, I served as the education and business beats reporter for the Times-News in Hendersonville, N.C., covering school board meetings, localized state education issues, Henderson County's manufacturing and agriculture industries, new business, unemployment, and more.

Now, as the Public Information Officer for Henderson County Public Schools, I coordinate coverage of with news media, arrange interviews with administrators and staff, and work with teachers within the schools to find and promote the best stories on teacher, student and school accomplishments both in traditional and social media.

A 2010 graduate and Honors Fellow of Elon University, I hold a B.A. in Journalism and English (concentration in Creative Writing), and an M.S. in Communications and graduate certificate in Strategic Communication Management from Purdue University. I am a member of the National School Public Relations Association and the North Carolina School Public Relations Association, serve as Secretary and Marketing Chair on the board of Hendersonville Sister Cities. I also serve on the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce's Education Committee, the Local Health Information Team (LHIT) through Henderson County's Department of Public Health, and the Communications Committee at First Baptist Church of Asheville.
